“A woman shouldn’t ever think that just because incontinence is common that it is normal”
Hypopressives
Reconnect with your core. Rebuild your awareness. Move with confidence.
Your body has carried you through so much. Pregnancy, childbirth, stress, hormonal changes and the demands of everyday life can all influence how you feel in your body.
Perhaps you feel disconnected from your core, experience changes in your abdominal strength, or simply want to understand your body better.
Or maybe you have noticed that you leak when you sneeze or cough or even move too quickly. Maybe you even notice a heaviness at the end of the day. All of these sensations are information from the body. Just because they happen frequently - it doesn’t mean it should be ignored.
Hypopressives offer a different way to explore breathing, posture and core and pelvic floor awareness, helping you reconnect with your body from the inside out.
What are hypopressives?
Hypopressives are a series of breathing and postural exercises designed to reduce pressure within the abdominal, thoracic and pelvic cavities.
The practice combines controlled breathing, specific body positions and periods of breath suspension (apnoea) to develop awareness of the diaphragm, abdominal muscles, posture and pelvic floor.
Rather than focusing solely on strengthening, hypopressives invite you to explore how your body breathes, moves and responds to changes in pressure.
Why focus on your core?
Your core is about much more than having strong abdominal muscles.
It is a complex system involving your diaphragm, abdominal muscles, back muscles and pelvic floor. Together, these structures contribute to posture, breathing, stability and everyday movement.
Pregnancy, childbirth, changes in hormones and the natural ageing process can all influence how these systems work together.
Developing greater awareness of your breathing, posture and core can be an important part of reconnecting with your body and improving or preventing incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.

A note about your pelvic health
Every woman's body and pelvic health needs are different. Hypopressives are a breathing and movement practice, not a replacement for pelvic health assessment or clinically recommended treatment (although many of you may find me once you have had unsuccessful treatments such as mesh or other implants).
Begin your reconnection
Your body deserves attention, understanding and care.
Take six weeks to slow down, learn, breathe and reconnect with your foundations.
